The group completed the Quays project on the corner of Symon Street and High Street in October of 2017. Overlooking the Taylor River and the Amphitheatre, where decking and handrails for the wharf structures were installed.
The wood chosen for the decking is called Purpleheart and is otherwise known as Amaranth. The scientific name is Peltogyne.
Purpleheart is a beautiful wood from Central and South America chosen when a unique splash of colour is required. When freshly cut the heartwood of Purpleheart is a dull greyish/purplish brown. Upon exposure, the wood becomes a deeper eggplant purple. With further age and exposure to UV light, the wood becomes a dark brown with a hint of purple.
We are very happy with the result of the job adding a very fresh look to an already tranquil rest stop along the beautiful Taylor River.
Conpavers completed the large area of civil construction and stone paving and Total Tactilez supplied and installed the Tactile Indicators and safety stair nosings. All the area was finished using outdoor landscaping supplies on hand and planted with an assortment of plants.
We hope both locals, and visitors to Marlborough enjoy the park in this beautiful area of sunny Marlborough.
